Job Listing: Purchasing Agent / Customer Service Rep

AB Wire is looking for an experienced purchasing agent and customer service representative. Purchasing responsibilities will include strong computer skills to implement aggressive inventory management, cycle counts, and improved order-fill rates while accommodating vendor order-entry and freight minimums. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. May approve invoices for payment. May expedite delivery of goods to users. Customer-service duties are to serve as front-line telephone interface with established customer base, assuring prompt customer deliveries within corporate guidelines

Required Skills

Bachelors Degree required

2+ years purchasing experience in high volume manufacturing

Demonstrated ability to organize and complete detailed tasks with minimal direction.

Effective negotiation skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities.

Excellent telephone, interpersonal and communication skills. Works with all plant and office personnel and vendors
