Major Duties

Provides technical assistance to one or more Behavioral Health clinicians in Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center's (KACC) Behavioral Health Clinic. May use the following systems in the performance of duties: AHLTA, CDS, AKO, CARE, DCAS, CHCS, ADM, UCAPERS, MODS, MEDPROS, RIDES, and ICDB. Serves as an intake worker for crisis evaluation and/or routine intake evaluation. Facilitates intake and triage of patients by receiving phone calls and/or prospective patients in person to obtain demographic, historical, and clinical information. Interviews patients to identify relevant information and organize pertinent facts. Assesses patients' mental status to distinguish type of case and to discriminate between routine, complex and/or emergency cases. Analyzes and consolidates information for presentation to supervisor/staff clinician for disposition of each case and makes recommendations for triage purposes. Assists in the collection, processing and distribution of intake forms.

General Schedule Specialized Experience: Practical knowledge of various mental disorders as reflected in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders to make a general assessment of patients presenting problems for triage purposes and disposition.





General knowledge of personality development theories.





Knowledge of various psychological tests for adults and adolescents to administer test to patients.





Knowledge of and skill in interviewing, listening, and interpersonal relation techniques to interview and counsel patients, and obtain factual information.





Knowledge of evaluation techniques to identify relevant information, summarize the information and to distinguish between routine, complex and/or emergency cases.





Skill in written and typed communication to prepare narrative reports to summarize findings and present factual data on patient cases.


The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction.One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent). The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.GS-06 and above: One year of experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the next lower grade. Graduate education or an internship meets the experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position.
