About the Position: The position is located at Water Reed Army Medical Center, residual community in Northwest Washington, DC. There is easy accessibility to public transportation.
The work requires some physical exertion in the movement of recreational supplies throughout the ward to conduct therapeutic recreation. It also requires physical stamina, dexterity, and recreational skill in order to participate with patients in recreational therapy.
The work environment involves moderate risk and continued stress due to the nature of the population.

Major Duties
Serves as a clinical services including one on one treatments, group treatments (1-4 ratio), co-treatments with other disciplines and community group. Obtain Physicians Orders for recreational therapy services. Conduct assessments, interviews and chart reviews with clients/residents and/ or family members. Plan and develop programs and treatment sessions. Assist, plan, organize, and direct therapeutic play and recreation programs to include such activities as games, parties, music, arts and crafts. Conduct group and individual recreation activities according to patients' needs, capabilities and interests; determine and implement necessary precautions in exercising responsibility for the care and safety of patients. Prepare reports reflecting patients' behavior and progress for medical staff and other team members. Assist in the selection, distribution, maintenance, storage, evaluation and purchase of recreational supplies and equipment.
