Salary is dependent on Education, Qualifications and Experience and will be determined by the Nurse Professional Standards Board for new hires.
Major Duties
The Director, Nursing Research encumbers a unique role at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. This position maintains a joint appointment between the Atlanta VA Medical Center and the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (NHWSON) of Emory University. Within the Atlanta VA Medical Center, the position reports directly to the Associate Chief of Staff for Research and indirectly to the Associate Director, Nursing/Patient Care Services. The person in this role develops plans, directs, assesses and implements nursing research programs and projects. Projects may range from unit-level unfunded projects to federal grants and awards. Formal and informal education to other nurses regarding conducting and using research is also a primary function of the position..

Qualifications
US Citizenship (2) Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. (3) Current, full, active and unrestricted licensure as a registered professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia. (4) Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. Successful completion of pre-employment physical examination. RN's appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
