Major Duties

This position is located in the Office of
Inspector General. The incumbent performs a variety of legal duties
necessary to enforce the requirements of the Communications Act of
1934, as amended, and the Commission's implementing rules and
orders. The primary focus of the position involves the handling and
disposition of investigations of potential rule violations in the
communications industry.

Assignments include cases involving complex and difficult factual
and legal situations. These may include: (1) conducting legal
research, compiling facts and background information and precedents
on points of law; (2) developing strategies for resolving compliance
issues or cases, many of which may be factually complex or of such a
nature that no clear precedents apply; (3) conducting or
participating in investigations and other fact-finding to determine
or measure compliance with legal requirements administered by the
Commission; and (4) preparing and presenting findings, conclusions
and recommendations, both orally and in written documents of varying
length and complexity.
