This position is located at Tumacacori National Historical park which is located in the Santa Cruz Valley of southern Arizona. Daytime temperatures range from 103 degrees in the summer to 45 degrees in the winter. Tumacacori is 45 miles south of Tucson, Arizona and 19 miles north of Nogales, Arizona. Other small communities, with some shopping and service facilities, lie within a 20 mile radius of the park. Most services are available in Nogales, Arizona. Park housing is not available.


Incumbent of this position will be required to wear a uniform & comply with NPS standards.


 


You will need to successfully complete a background investigation before you can be appointed into this position.


 


Valid state driver's license is required and must be maintained.  


 


This is a TERM position not-to-exceed 13 months but may be extended up to 4 years depending on workload and funding.  Work schedule: 5 days a week, including weekends and holidays, 8-hr days


 


 



Major Duties

Performs custodial tasks in visitor center, administrative and interpretive offices and public rest rooms.  Collects and disposes of trash/litter from office buildings, housing area, parking lots and trails.  Sweeps and cleans paved trail surfaces including mission church.  Transports supplies and materials using physical strength or wheelbarrow.   Maintains park grounds and shrubs using hand, power equipment and riding mowers.  Assists higher skilled employees in more complex tasks including plastering of masonry structures, painting, and plumbing.
 
Working Conditions:
 
Work is performed outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions and climbing on scaffolding. Work requires prolonged standing on concrete floors and walking over a rough and uneven terrain. Work requires lifting and moving heavy items.
