The Atlanta VA Medical Center has an opening for a Nurse Practitioner in the Hematology Oncology Section, in the Medical Specialty Care Service Line. Salary is dependent on Education, Qualifications and Experience and will be determined by the Nurse Professional Standards Board for new hires.
Major Duties
The Nurse Practitioner Hematology/Oncology Clinic: long term commitment to oncology required. Oncology experience preferred. Experience in taking care of patients in clinical trials preferred but willingness to take the appropriate certification tests required. Coordination of care of patients who are referred from other VA Medical Centers required. Experience with telemedicine preferred. Evaluation of outpatients in clinics 5 days a week and inpatient evaluation on inpatient rounds. Candidate must be able to see large number of complex patients. Candidate will need to be able to adjust work schedule to clinical needs and at request participate on inpatient oncology and hematology consults.

What To Expect Next:

Qualifications
(1) US Citizenship (2) Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. (3) Current, full, active and unrestricted licensure as a registered professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the District of Columbia. (4) Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. Successful completion of pre-employment physical examination. RN's appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English. Current RN license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Masters Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing and National Certification as Nurse Practitioner.
