NURSING SERVICE
The duty station is the John Cochran Division; however, the duty station may be changed to one or multiple associated VAMC locations within the metropolitan St. Louis, MO area based on the needs of the medical center.
Major Duties
1. Performs the functions of a licensed practical nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all assigned patient care under the direction of a RN and in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary team.2. The incumbent’s assignment will predominantly involve the care of patients with acute medical-surgical needs with or without additional geriatric, rehab, palliative or long term medical needs. 3. The incumbent will be responsible for direct patient care, medication/IV administration, knowledge of equipment utilization and safety, patient/family education, documentation of patient care and coordinating the care for a group of patients.4. The incumbent will participate in the unit and service performance improvement activities and will adhere to established policies of Nursing, and the Medical Center.5. The incumbent observes patients rights and provides care with humanism, respect and dignity.

Required Skills
Qualifications
U.S. Citizen; graduate of a school of practical nursing approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency. Current, full, unrestricted licensure as a graduate licensed practical nurse in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in Licensure for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
