Plans, coordinates and executes a comprehensive and complex occupational therapy program for inpatients and outpatients. Works closely with the treatment team in providing comprehensive patient care. Participates fully in PMRS meetings and education activities. After receiving an appropriate referral, incumbent evaluates patients using standard and non-standard methods to determine range of motion, strength, sensation, proprioception, coordination, perception, cognition, ADL, work activities, orthotic and prosthetic needs and equipment needs.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.
b. Education. Graduation from a baccalaureate degree program in occupational therapy or a post-baccalaureate certificate program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.
c. Certification. Applicants must have passed the Certification Examination for Occupational Therapists Registered OTR.
d. English Language Proficiency. Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), 7407(d).
e. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

Graduate education and graduate degrees may be substituted if they are from a college or university recognized by the AOTA, or in a field related to occupational therapy (e.g., anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nursing, physical therapy, social work, geriatrics/gerontology, exercise physiology). Graduate education or a graduate degree in a field related to occupational therapy must be from a college or university which was regionally accredited at the time the candidate completed the program. To substitute graduate education or a graduate degree, it must have been completed after completing the degree or certificate required for appointment in paragraph b above.DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, i.e., providing occupational therapy services in a therapeutic setting.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE
One year of clinical experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

Applicants must possess proficiency in written and spoken English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402 (d) for positions involving direct patient care.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, or 16 with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, as of the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
