About the Position: The purpose of contacts is to gain support for A&PA recruiting programs, gather market and media data, obtain the cooperation of individuals in private and governmental organizations in furthering Army recruiting efforts, and soliciting feedback on the success of programs.
Internally, contacts are with recruiting officials from Battalion, Brigade and HQ USAREC, recruiters, officials of supporting Active Army and USAR organizations, and the contract advertising agency Field Account Executive. Externally, contacts are with representatives of print and broadcast news media, state and local government officials, high school and college officials, representatives of various civic, cultural and business organizations and media vendors.
NOTE: Travel throughout the Bn area is required.
Employee must be able to obtain a drivers license.

Major Duties
Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Advertising and Public Affairs (A&PA) Office of a recruiting Battalion (Bn). Assists in the execution of advertising, promotional and public affairs activities within the Bn area of responsibility. Assists with the implementation of advertising programs for Active Army and U.S. Army Reserve recruiting within the Bn area. Provides information and training to recruiters on the use of various promotional materials. Coordinates and implements sales promotion activities with recruiters. Schedules Recruiting Support Command (RSC) assets, bands and ceremonial units; manages aspects of the Total Army Involvement in Recruiting (TAIR) program; and coordinates details for participation in conventions and science and engineering fairs. Writes, designs, edits, and publishes the Bn newspaper, the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) newsletter, etc. Informs local news/assignment editors of printed and broadcast media of newsworthy activities in the Bn area.

General Schedule **SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Best qualified candidates for this job must show in their resume that they have training or experience in the following areas:
Knowledge of written and oral communication techniques and ability to apply them to develop and disseminate information about Army recruiting activities to the public through mass media. This includes:
Skill in preparing newspaper and newsletters.
Skill in writing news releases and feature articles for external publications.
Skill in writing advertising copy that is tailored to specific markets.
Skill in the use of computers and knowledge of desktop publishing methods.
Ability to organize a variety of promotional programs and events.
Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with media vendors, news media representatives, and officials of various public and private organizations.
