The individual selected for this position will serve as a Human Resources Technician (OA), YB-0203-01/02 providing assistance to the Human Resources Specialist for assigned functional areas of employee support services, employee benefits, and travel and allowances.



Major Duties

The person selected for this position will be responsible for providing assistance to the human resources specialist for assigned functional areas of employee support services, employee benefits, and travel and allowances.  The person selected will process a full range of official personnel actions for their specialist and ensure all actions are properly completed for new employees.  The person must be able to work flexible work hours, shift work and overtime may be mandatory during the in processing of the teachers (August to October).  Certain times of the year overtime may be required in order to complete the mission.  In addition, the selected will:Provide a full range of employment support services by:  retrieving SF-75 information; completing requests for Official Personnel Folders (OPF); verifying the accuracy of Requests for Personnel Actions; inputting actions into MODERN DCPDS; ensuring that documents are processed in a timely manner.

Prepare official personnel folders for all new hires, and will do filing (both electronic and hardcopy) as necessary for actions into official personnel folders.

Code and input position transactions into DCPDS via a remote terminal; review DCPDS quality control products and take corrective action; process employees in and out and establish OPF's.

Verify that background investigations are complete on all employees; provide instructions on how to complete forms.

Provide advice for the Employee Benefits programs which include Federal Employees Compensation Act (FECA), Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB), Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).

Provide support for travel and allowances; process requests from employees for allowance entitlements to include Living Quarters Allowance (LQA), Temporary Quarters Subsistence Allowance (TQSA), and Post Allowance (PA) check calculations, process changes and Requests for Travel Orders.

Provide administrative support to staff members.  Type and prepare a wide variety of correspondence to include memoranda, letters, reports, forms, graphs and charts.

Use automated office equipment to complete various aspects of assigned duties.

Use standard keyboard and various computer software/hardware packages, modems and printers.
