 1 vacancy - Aberdeen, SD The Bureau of Indian Affairs is the lead agency for the United States in carrying on a government-to-government relationship with the tribal nations. Incumbent processes a variety of land title documents such as patents, deeds, leases, probate modifications and rights-of-way.  Posts information to the Land Index (form 125) and encodes data to the Land Records Information System (LRIS) and/or Trust Asset Account Management System (TAAMS).  Audits land indexes, 188 folders, identification number card files, census rolls, tribal rolls, probate testimony, allotment schedules, master land description reports and various generated computer reports.

GS-3:  $23,667 - $30,767  Per Annum



Major Duties


NOTE:  If the position is filled at a lower grade level, subsequent promotion to the next grade level will be processed without competition under the merit promotion program at such time as performance and qualification requirements are met and classification review discloses the duties being performed properly warrant classification to the next higher grade level. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Incumbent processes a variety of land title documents such as patents, deeds, leases, probate modifications and rights-of-way.  Posts information to the Land Index (form 125) and encodes data to the Land Records Information System (LRIS) and/or Trust Asset Account Management System (TAAMS).  Audits land indexes, 188 folders, identification number card files, census rolls, tribal rolls, probate testimony, allotment schedules, master land description reports and various generated computer reports.  Establishes new 188 folders by assigning new prefixes and suffixes for subdivided or partitioned tracts of land.  Draws maps for each tract of land audited to show land boundaries and subdivisions.  Researches and verifies Indian landowner identification numbers contained in probate documents to determine if number is accurate for encoding to the LRIS and/or TAAMS.  Encodes ID number to the automated owner identification number system.  Types people data on draft form letter, memoranda, census records and 3x5 identification cards.  Operates personal computer, printer, facsimile machine, calculator, 3m processor camera, 3m201 dry silver read printer, 3m model 7540 reader printer, typewriters, kardex series 80 lektrievers and karveyors.

(f).   References - List three people who are not related to you and are not supervisors you listed under work experience who know your qualifications and fitness for the kind of job you are applying. 2.  Form BIA 4432, Verification of Indian Preference for Employment, is required for claiming Indian Preference. No other form will be accepted.

3.  Form BIA 4450, Supervisory Appraisal of Demonstrated Performance or Potential, current Bureau employees.

4.  Form DD-214, if claiming 5 pt. veteran's preference or SF-15 with required proof of entitlement (10 pt. veteran’s preference).

5.  College Transcript is required for verification/documentation of qualifying education.

6.  Supplemental Questionnaire, KSA resume, listed in announcement.  Failure to respond to the KSA questions may result in loss of consideration.

7.  Copy of most recent SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, current or former Federal employees.

PROFICIENCY

school or other organization authorized to issue such certificate by the Office


of Personnel Management local office or by self-certifying their proficiency.











SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE


& REQUIREMENTS: 


A background security investigation will be required for all new

OTHER:   Incumbent may be required, as an incidental
