Sr. Linux Systems Administrator Linux and other Unix Based Systems Integration over to Company's Monitoring and Management Systems
This is an outstanding opportunity to make a huge impact in a rapidly expanding organization. The nation's leading Marketing Partners for real estate professionals, requires a member for its new Production Operations Team. You will provide leadership for their world class 24x7 by 365 operations, managing all aspects of the operations, including monitoring, resolution, administration and engineering of a large scale production environment. Your leadership within the team will demonstrate business and technical knowledge, mentoring and training for Linux systems and application administration to help them ensure the health, uptime and performance of their hosted services, which rely on an infrastructure of Linux (primarily RedHat Linux and Debian) hosts requiring 24x7 uptime.
Your key responsibility will be to provide the main point of technical knowledge to key members of an internal business unit and mentor other Systems Administrators on Linux/Unix administration. Working very closely with other members of the Infrastructure Management Team, you will be maintaining a set of critical applications which you will have ownership. You will also provide technical input to the rest of the Infrastructure team on key initiatives to improve their world class service quality service.
You will be working in a team of six people including yourself. You will report to the Production Operations Manager and work closely with the QA and Dev teams, as this is a very collaborative environment.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain site servers and hosted web applications, ensuring uptime and site responsiveness.
Troubleshoot problems and issues, escalating issues within the organization.
Maintain system and network procedure documentation.
Communication of system and network events and root cause analysis after resolution.
Diagnose and resolve Unix Server, OS, Network and other failures and engage internal specialists and vendors in the respective areas as required.
Configure new Unix servers using automated deployment tools.
Define system, quality and analysis on systems, networks, and applications, translating requirements into functional specifications and effective processes.
Provide second-tier on-call support for production services.
Improve the build and release management for all online services.
Ensure reliable code pushes and work with Development and QA on validation of new versions.
Adhere to change control process for all production hardware and software changes.
Work with the Production Operations Manager in the data center and provide consultation and strategic direction in systems and hosting technology.
Assist in the development and maintenance of security best practices.
Own projects for product changes and improvements.
Develop tools and scripts to assist with routine maintenance tasks.
Mentor the Site Operations team in the usage of tools and scripts and work with them to develop and deliver optimal solutions for service recovery and business resumption.
Provide recommendations for scalability and performance improvement in selected areas of discipline.
Design, document and monitor health of MySQL and PostgreSQL database servers.
Manage and configure Apache web servers, and Postfix mail servers.
Develop standards and procedures for maintenance and modification of database platforms.
Plan and support the implementation of major architectural changes.
Develop back-up and recovery procedures, including testing back-ups and data integrity.
Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues.
Assist Business functions on delivery of weekly business metrics data.

This is a Contact to Hire position, Mon-Fri Core Hours, with one week on-call every 5-6 weeks.
