Support for Developers - C++/C#
This group supports development (Devs) who use Visual Studio in the UI area and with creating Windows apps. You will be supporting Developers that write apps for Windows. This is client side development and the team includes around 8 SEs, but this group supports a larger group of Developers.
If you are a person who enjoys being respected for their work and contributions, this is the team for YOU. When other Developers can’t figure out a solution, they are come to this team for support. In this position, you will attain great customer interaction and you will get to hear the praise that the customer provides when you solve their Dev issues! This team works with cutting edge technology, .NET framework 2.0, Vista, etc. They are working on another newly preferred way of creating UI in Vista. Being a part of this team is so much fun! You are not stuck with the same issues or product cycle - (normally 1-2 weeks for a product cycle.)
Day-to-Day:
Help Developers (from mom & pop set-ups to Adobe or HP Devs) who have run into an issue with their code solution - for instance: Maybe there’s an issue in Visual Studio or in the code base the Dev is mocking up. You will be in support of (Windows AND Visual Studio).
Interact with all external customers - requests come in via a ticketing system but this is NOT a position that will require a candidate to answer incoming calls. The Developer Support Engineer will be required to call customers (but this is not an incoming phone bank.)
SLAs will be performed around contact with the customer but not around resolution for each specific issue. Resolution won’t normally happen in the first contact. Normally, the Support Engineer will acknowledge the customer’s request per a phone call, does the research and works for 1-2 weeks on a resolution. These are highly complex scenarios, not quick fixes.
As a Developer Support Engineer you will interact with the various Product Teams to understand if it is a small issue or one that needs to be released into the formal Engineering process to fix a larger product issue.

Job Requirements for this Developer Support - C++/C# include:
Experience working with C++/C#, (which could go to VB.NET and C# if it’s client side.)
C++ and Win 32 APIs experience is very beneficial to have for this position.
This is a Developer position with customer facing skills – (for this position, you can not be a "code monkey" or someone who just wants to code and not interact with anyone else) - You must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
