TEKsystems has partnered with a large Government integrator to identify a medical coder for a one year contract opportunity located in Cape May, NJ.


Description:

Codes outpatient medical records for the US Coast Guard according to diagnoses, operations and procedures using appropriate classification systems. Compiles, maintains, analyzes and reviews patient medical records for completeness and accuracy. Consults with physicians regarding appropriate terminology to code. Prepares various reports and performs data retrieval for routine and special projects. Audits and corrects coding of all types of medical records according to diagnosis, operations and procedures using appropriate classification systems. Compiles, maintains, analyses and reviews patient medical records for completeness and accuracy. Develops and coordinates educational and training programs regarding elements of the coding compliance program to all appropriate personnel, physicians, billing personnel, and ancillary departments. Performs auditing and coding assignments that are routine and/or complex in nature, requiring a limited to high level of judgment. Has a minimal to high role in decision-making. May be an informal team leader.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Five years or greater of coding or directly related experience. Certified Coder (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).
