You must have one or more years of specialized experience that demonstrates knowledge of the theories, principles, and methods of fish and wildlife biology, including habitat restoration and prescribed burning; knowledge of Federal laws, regulations, and conservation programs related to natural resources management; ability to assess the effects of upland, wetland, in-stream and riparian restoration projects on other fish and wildlife resources of an area; ability organize, plan, and forecast; ability to convey technical information orally and in writing to individuals with diverse interests and backgrounds; ability to work cooperatively and effectively with public agencies, tribal governments and private groups in natural resources project development and valuation. This experience must be equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service but may be gained in the private or public sectors. Work at this level is entry level and is performed under close supervision and guidance.

D. You must have less than the full amount of specialized experience described above and less than the full amount of education described in A or B above. However, you have an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. To compute, first determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determine your total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal to 100 percent to qualify.

Requirements
The person selected for this position will be required to submit a signed Employee Agreement stating that the following NWCG qualifications and additional training required for their position as outlined in the IFPM Qualifications Standard and Guide WILL be met by October 1, 2009 and failure to do so will result in removal from the position.
NWCG Incident Management Qualifications-Currency Not Required

Operations: Single Resource Boss (SRB)-Crew or Engine

Prescribed Fire: Prescribed Fire Burn Boss, Type 2 (RXB2)
This position is a Secondary-Administrative Firefighter Position under the Firefighter retirement system. PLEASE NOTE: Applicants may meet position qualification requirements, but not be eligible for the Firefighter retirement system. Firefighter retirement coverage in secondary positions depends upon the incumbents individual work history. A determination of eligibility for Firefighter retirement will be made at the time of selection. If the selected applicant is not eligible for Firefighter retirement, he/she will be placed in the regular retirement system.
Prior wildland firefighting experience of at least 90 day on the fireline, as gained by substantial service in a primary firefighting 6(c) position, or equivalent experience outside the Federal government is a MANDATORY PREREQUISITE to qualify for this position.
The incumbents will be required to obtain and wear an official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Uniform.
Incumbent must be able to operate a government owned motor vehicle. Valid state driver's license is required.
The person selected for this position will be required to submit a Certificate of Medical Examination, if the form is not already on file.
Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use. This position requires random drug testing.
Work is sedentary, usually performed in an office. Strenuous physical activity can be expected when field duties include fire suppression and prescribed fire activities. A level of physical fitness is required during field inspections and on fire assignments. Fire assignments require a physical fitness level meeting the requirements of 310-1, WildlandFire Qualification Subsystem Guide. Incumbent must wear protective clothing and other safety equipment.
Work will be performed in an office and field setting. Regular and recurring exposure to rain, wind, sun, etc. and to moderate exposure to excessive heat, smoke, dust, sharp tools, low level aircraft flights, motorized equipment, rough and uneven terrain, poisonous snakes and insects, and aerial retardant drops. Incumbent must wear protective clothing and other safety equipment.
