The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development  (HUD) MBA Fellows Program is seeking individuals with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree who are interested in public service and to work toward our mission to "increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination."


Candidates selected will be appointed to a two-year program.  Those who successfully complete this formal training and development program, and who meet all requirements, may be converted to a competitive permanent Federal position.  At HUD, this program will provide an opportunity to learn about HUD's mission and programs.  Individuals employed under this program will be hired at the entry GS-9 grade, with a target of a GS-12 grade level upon program completion.


Rotational assignments are a key component of this program.  Assignments may be in areas such as budget, program analysis, compliance assistance, financial management, human resources and information technology in HUD's national and regional offices.  Responsibilities will include activities such as developing organizational studies and analysis, project management, proposing new processes for maximum utilization, and assist in annual fiscal planning.




Major Duties

Responsibilities will include such activities as developing organizational studies and analysis; project management; proposing new processes for maximum resource utilization, and assisting in annual fiscal planning. The work requires an understanding of performance management and balanced scorecard principles and experience in implementing those in a governmental, non-profit or business setting; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; experience in the use of office productivity applications, databases, and database tools for ad-hoc analysis and reporting; and either experience with activity based costing and management or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the required work.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is looking for a vast array of candidates for these positions; searching for innovative, eager to learn, self-motivated, highly energized candidates.  Knowledge, skills, and abilities could have been obtain in various aspects of work and/or education, to include researching and analysis, developing policies and procedures, effective usage of multiple software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.), and make recommendations.




To be eligible for the internship you must have successfully completed a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or an equivalent graduate degree or higher from an accredited college or university. GS-09:
