POSITION:
Senior Controls Software Engineer~Solar Power Generation System Control
SUMMARY:
As the Controls Software Engineer you will develop networked controls systems for Solar Dish power generation systems. The Controls Software Engineer will develop systems that distribute control functions between dish and engine systems as well as the field SCADA systems. The Controls Software Engineer will also help to develop the communications, data encryption, data-handling, and trend analysis tools for a field level SCADA that must coordinate the operation of 20,000-50,000 units.
The individual power generation systems communicate with the SCADA through a networked architecture. The SCADA will be designed to coordinate field operations including start-up, shut-down, and normal operation while monitoring, controlling, and tracking errors in the field. The field SCADA must extract data from the individual units, encrypt and compress the data, and complete trend analysis on individual dishes, groups, and the entire field to help guide operations and maintenance activities and optimize field performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1.Bachelor of Science Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field
2.7+ years of applicable experience
3.Strong product development skills for mid-volume software systems
4.Experience with distributed and networked controls systems
5.Experience with data encryption, network security, and data compression algorithms
6.Trend analysis and data mining algorithms
QUALIFICATIONS OF INTEREST:
1.Embedded control system software development
2.Excellent written and communication skills, including ability to make effective presentations to a wide range of audiences
3.Experience with communications, SCADA systems, and databases.
4.Trade studies and analysis
5.Experience with large scale product development
6.Manage consultants and vendors

SAMPLE PROJECT LIST:
1)Develop the communications software layer, security, and data compression algorithms for coordinating activity between the dish and power conversion unit control systems.
2)Develop secure communications between dishes and the plant SCADA system.
3)Incorporate data-mining and trend analysis algorithms into the data layer to help manage the plant operations and maintenance functions.
