Job Summary:
CURRENTLY SEEKING EXPERIENCED WATER TREATMENT OPERATORS WITH A GROUP I certification from WA State.
Candidate will operate a domestic waste treatment plant to include but not limited to:, treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in treatment plant to control flow and processing of discharged material.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidate will monitor control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of treatment waters and ship overboard discharge. Will perform confined space entry and tank cleaning operations. Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirements. Start and stop pumps, engines and generators to control flow of treatment waters through filtering, settling, aeration, flocculation, distillation, and sludge digestion processes. Maintain log of operations and records meter and gas readings. Give directions to HMW workers in performing routing operations and maintenance. Collect samples and conducts laboratory tests. May operate and perform minor preventive maintenance on power generating equipment to provide steam and electricity for plant. Maintain contract-required treatment and maintenance logs. Prepare information and inputs into spreadsheet format for the State’s Discharge Monitoring Report.
Candidate will perform treatments of hazardous wastes and operates the solvent recovery still and bio-reactor. Will be responsible for the marking, labeling, and tracking of hazardous waste. Operate chemical laboratory test equipment and gas detection instruments. May be assigned duties requiring consolidation, treatment, processing, retention, or distilling of hazardous waste or materials.
Spill response -- As a Hazardous Substance Spill Response Team Leader, makes informed decisions concerning the technical operations of the Spill Response Team under routine and emergency situations. Works closely with the on-scene coordinator (may be from other organizations) to assess a spill situation, determine a course of action, and coordinate support services; is on call for hazardous substance spill control, containment, and cleanup, including providing backup for the Fire Department , as required. As needed, functions in LEVEL A Protection, uses analytical instruments for testing hazardous conditions, and sets up and operates various compressors, pumps, valves, and fittings. Operates five-ton trucks, cargo tanker trucks, forklifts, and various communication systems.
May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

Forklift Operation
SWFPAC General Explosive Safety Training
Confined Space Training
CDL – B(X) Endorsement
DOT Hazardous Material Training
SCBA Training
Respirator Training
CPR/First Aid Training
40 hours Spill Response Training
Fire Extinguisher Training
