Job Listing: Medical Affairs, Project Manager

Our client, a biotech company in Cambridge is currently looking for a Project Manager in their Medical Affairs Department. The company's main therapeutic area is substance abuse and addiction treatment, so they would like someone with an academic background in this area. Experience working directly in Medical Affairs is not necessary, but a qualified candidate will have experience working on Clinical Research Studies and have a strong understanding of the process.

The Medical Affairs Project Manager is a full-time position located in the Cambridge office reporting to the VP of Medical Affairs. This position will initially be a 6-month contract and will be re-evaluated at the end of that period. This individual will manage a variety of projects for Medical Affairs, working to ensure that projects are executed in a timely and cost efficient manner. This person must be able to work effectively individually and in teams, in a very fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities
The Medical Affairs Project Manager will have four main areas of responsibility, including building out the Best Practices model, supporting interactions with the field, assisting with Government Relations initiatives, and supporting the development of publications and presentations. In working with the Best Practices project, this person will collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues and the members from the Marketing department to develop the Best Practice tools, which will be clinical and administrative tools delivered to treatment providers to support their ability to provide quality care. The Medical Affairs team works intimately with the Government Relations group to provide information to stakeholders in federal and state government, the criminal justice system and large treatment systems, and this individual will support all of those initiatives. This individual will also work with the Director of Scientific Communications to support the development and execution of scientific publications and presentations at conferences. This person will assist the VP of Medical Affairs in recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding other individuals being hired into the department. Overall, this person will provide daily project management support to ensure that all existing and new projects are initiated, developed and progress in a timely manner, consistent with all relevant SOPs.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:
– Masters level degree or equivalent experience in an area relevant to public health, social work, psychology, medicine, or another similar field, preferably with some experience in the addictions or substance abuse field
– Project management experience: identifying steps, laying out timelines, managing teams, and executing in a timely and cost-efficient manner

- Reasoning and Analytical Ability - Able to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of complex intellectual and practical projects/tasks/problems.
- Task Execution: Capable of determining appropriate method(s) for completing new assignments.
- Decision making: Assignments are complex in nature and require judgments based on fluent understanding of SOPs, with minimal intervention by supervisor.
- Prioritizing/Multitasking: Recommend feasible timelines with assumptions and possible contingencies.
- Supervisory requirements: Capable of making appropriate decisions independently in most circumstances, triages the details of the situations that require reporting to supervisor staff, and show accountability for actions.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of computers and the ability to use software for spreadsheet analysis, word processing, electronic mail and presentations graphics are essential.
