The incumbent provides technical support in research designed to optimize nutrient cycling in alfalfa-corn rotations and in associated research on improving water quality with perennial forages.

Your education and experience will be evaluated against all qualification requirements (basic and any additional requirements) listed below.
Basic Requirements:
GS-05: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level OR successful completion of full 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least six semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position such as agronomy, crop science, soil science, etc.
Additional Requirements:
Specialized Experience is experience which has equipped you with the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - 'KSAs' required to perform the duties of this position:
1. Knowledge of quantitative analytical procedures and techniques used in nitrogen cycling, soil fertility, or plant nutrition.
2. Skill in operating and maintaining common laboratory equipment such as pH meters, total or inorganic nitrogen analyzers, and centrifuges.
3. Skill in using personal computers and software packages to organize, analyze, and summarize data.
Education:
