This position is located in the Pharmacy Department and includes both inpatient clinical pharmacy practice in patient care areas and inpatient pharmacy professional duties and administrative functions.
Major Duties
The incumbent must have strong clinical skills and experience in emphasizing the knowledge and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient relative to their age-specific needs and to the patient's continuing medication requirements as described in the Pharmacy Service's policies and procedures. Screens and assesses the patient's medication regimen, compliance, weight, height, drug interactions, duplication of therapy, allergies, renal, hepatic function and other appropriate labs. Provides therapeutic monitoring to include but not limited to pharmacokinetic consultation services, assessment of all new drugs the patient is placed on relative to the current disease state and the treatment and monitoring goals for the patient. Provides drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other health care professionals that includes but is not limited to the general recommendations on the choice of approved formulary medications, appropriate administration of medications, bioavailability, toxicity, laboratory values, adverse drug reactions. Has experience, and is comfortable with, presenting in-service education programs to nurses or physician in their area of work. Possesses the knowledge, skill and flexibility to be assigned to other sections of Pharmacy Service for training, to provide for emergent patient care needs and to support the improvement efforts of the Service's operational efficiency. The incumbent may be required to act as a preceptor for professional or technical level pharmacy students, and/or pharmacy technicians.

Qualifications
.Completion of the equivalent of one (1) year of professional pharmacist experience at the next lower grade level that has provided a broad knowledge of the complete pharmacy operation. Experience may have been gained as a clinical pharmacist in a major specialty area or as a pharmacy specialist responsible for a major program area within a pharmacy service. Qualifying experience may also have been obtained as a pharmacy supervisor responsible for the professional and administrative management of an inpatient/outpatient area in a large pharmacy service or an inpatient/outpatient area at a site geographically removed from the supervisor.

Salary Range: 101,349.00 - 118,242.00 USD per year
