The incumbent of this position must be eligible for Clinical Pharmacist Scope of Practice for Prescribing Privileges. Assignments include both direct patient care (medication management) in the clinic setting and outpatient pharmacy professional duties and administrative functions.
Major Duties
Practices medication management through direct patient care in one or more major clinics. Monitors and evaluates drug therapy and verifies physician orders by documenting patient allergies, clinical interventions, adverse drug reactions and variances in laboratory values. Is assigned various administrative and clinical projects and will be required to effectively complete tasks timely, accurately, and in a cooperative manner while working within the organizational structure of the Pharmacy Service. Is the primary professional staff member responsible for the daily professional and administrative operation of the Outpatient Pharmacy Program area. Provides information, interprets physicians’ orders, dispenses medications accurately and promptly, and counsels patients regarding their medications. Participates in the Performance Improvement Program by continuous monitoring activities as assigned. Monitors workflow from receipt of prescription to the dispensing of the final product. Oversees and checks the compounding activities of the technicians. Performs opening and closing procedures as required to properly maintain drug and equipment security for the Outpatient Pharmacy. Serves as Pharmacist-in-Charge or Acting Supervisor as assigned in the absence of the Supervisor.

Qualifications
1. Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. 2. Education: Must be a graduate of a degree program in Pharmacy from an approved college or university. The degree program must have been approved by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACEP) or American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) prior to the establishment of the ACEP. 3. Licensure: Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a state, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. 4. Certification: Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency Program is preferred. 5. Physical Requirements: A pre-employment physical examination is required. May also be subject to drug random drug screening. 6. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English. EXPERIENCE: Completion of the equivalent of one (1) year of professional pharmacist experience at the next lower grade level that has provided a broad knowledge of the complete pharmacy operation. Experience may have been gained as a clinical pharmacist in a major specialty area or as a pharmacy specialist responsible for a major program area within a pharmacy service. Qualifying experience may also have been obtained as a pharmacy supervisor responsible for the professional and administrative management of an inpatient/outpatient area in a large pharmacy service or an inpatient/outpatient area at a site geographically removed from the supervisor. NOTE: Provided funding is available, external candidates may be eligible for education debt reduction program (EDRP). EDRP recipients must submit a complete and accurate EDRP application and supporting loan documentation within four (4) months of their entrance on duty (EOD) date
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
You must submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test before you can be appointed into this position.
You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
