The Rock Springs Field Office manages over 3.6 million acres of
public land surface and 3.5 million acres of public subsurface
minerals in the southwestern part of Wyoming. The Field Office
administers a variety of programs including mineral exploration and
development, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, wild horses,
livestock grazing, and historic trails.

To qualify for this position, applicants must have 1 year of
specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the
Federal service. Education may substitute for specialized experience
as provided in the Qualifications section of this announcement.
Specialized experience is experience assisting professional
biologists in management of fish and wildlife habitat assessment and
manipulation.
Major Duties
In this position you will perform a full range of technical duties
in support of wildlife projects. Perform on-the-job inventories of
wildlife and their habitat, analyze data and report findings.
Determine likely impacts of minerals exploration, development, and
operation, realty actions, recreational activities, forestry and
range development or improvement projects on wildlife and their
habitat. Plan and assist with design of wildlife habitat projects.
Conduct projects including review of data to determine NEPA
adequacy, prepare categorical exclusions, and assist with
environmental assessments when needed. Work with contractors and
inspect construction projects to determine that contract goals are
met.
