The position is within the Cardiology Section of the Department of Medicine at VA Connecticut.  The position is to function as a noninvasive cardiologist, with a focus on Nuclear Cardiology.  VA Connecticut cardiology serves veterans at 2 campuses, Newington and West Haven.  Outpatients are seen at both campuses, while inpatient tertiary cardiac services are provided at the West Haven campus.  Additionally, the cardiology section and its members function within the Department of Medicine and Yale University School of Medicine, providing some inpatient general medicine services as well as teaching for medical students and housestaff, as well as post doctoral trainees in cardiology.



Major Duties

-         To be the major interface of cardiology with radiology in the performance and interpretation of nuclear cardiology testing, including perfusion imaging and gated blood pool studies-         To provide administrative oversight to the cardiology aspects of nuclear stress testing, including quality control, allocation of personnel and technical resources, and education and training for radiology and cardiology trainees-         To work with radiology for the continued development of cardiac CT angiography and cardiac MR-         To share in the provision of general cardiology services, including participation in outpatient clinic (at both campuses), providing inpatient consultative services, and supervision of stress testing

Applicants must meet the physician qualification standards as outlined in VA Handbook 5005 for citizenship, education, licensure and registration, physical standards and English proficiency.

BC/BE in cardiology and nuclear cardiology

Level 3 certification in nuclear cardiology, CT coronary angiography and cardiac MR.

Must qualify for an academic appointment to Yale University School of Medicine
You will be subjected to random drug testing.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.
