Job Listing: Project Engineer

A power engineering firm is seeking a project engineer for a project in the southwest suburbs.

The project engineer position will pay 40/hr and is open indefinitely.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility will be to organize and implement small capital projects ( $500,000) and support (on site) Project Managers on larger capital projects at the plant level. Specific responsibilities include:

Develop written scope of work documents for the projects.

Coordinate with local contractors in developing budgetary cost estimates and schedules.

Prepare Authorization For Expenditure (AFEs) using the client’s corporate forms and documents.

This includes preparation of a spreadsheet budget cost, written project scope of work document, project schedule, sketches, drawing markups, and budgetary quotes as required to assist in communicating the project to client management for approval.

Develop written scope of work documents for contractor biding. Coordinate contractor activities needed for the installation of projects.

Maintain and update project specific documents in the client’s system.

Coordinate with the client engineering, operations and EHS in the Management of Change (MOC) process.

Qualifications:
Individual should have 5 years experience, preferably in a plant environment, a degree in Engineering, familiarity with project scheduling, contract documents, project cost estimating and strong communication skills.

Experience with management or supervision of on-site construction activities.
