Job Listing: Maintenance Mechanic
Volt Services Group is looking for a qualified candidate that will be responsible for maintenance of all production and some facility equipment in support of manufacturing objectives. Assists Maintenance Supervisor with daily needs of the Extrusion departments. Ensures that equipment is ready for use and safe to operate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Observes and demonstrates all safety policies and practices including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and Hazardous Waste handling practices. Follows all requirements of Hazardous Energy Control programs, applicable NEC, ANSI, CDRH, OSHA, Federal, State and Local regulations.
2. Maintains and repairs machines in Extrusion.
3. Performs all functions of a maintenance technician, including repairs on motors, drives, gearboxes, heater circuits, wiring, plumbing, hydraulics, fabrication of equipment and light machine shop work.
4. Reports maintenance and process deficiencies to Maintenance Supervisor.
5. Troubleshoots and repairs complex electronic motor drives and control systems, PLC’s and dedicated microprocessor based controllers.
6. Assists Maintenance Supervisor with physical plant facilities, and plant start up and shut down.
7. Familiarizes self on new equipment, process changes and techniques.
8. Operate Forklift when required.
9. Overtime may be required to repair down equipment.
10. Employee will be assigned a pager and may be on call on weekends or at night as required.
11. Be able to work any shift.
12. Other duties as assigned.
Ability to determine cause of down equipment and best course of action for repair. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to carry out complex projects in routine, preventative and emergency maintenance while complying with company, federal, state, and local regulations.
Diagnoses causes of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic malfunctions and provides corrective action. Assists with development of an effective and responsive maintenance department.
Education/Special Training: High School degree, some technical school or certified electrician. Five years experience in industrial mechanical and electrical maintenance. Experience with Plastics manufacturing equipment, including injection molding, automated assembly and extrusion machines. Strong knowledge and proven troubleshooting skills of industrial electrical and electronic control systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and shop practices.
Environmental/Physical Demands: The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and heat producing equipment. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions, exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes, some toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock. The employee may elect to wear a nuisance dust mask. Hearing protection devices are optional but advisable in some areas because noise levels do not exceed 90 dba, except in selected areas marked as requiring protection. Safety glasses are required for all employees in the manufacturing area. Personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn for handling of hazardous chemicals. Employees are subject to weather conditions from seasonal temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use of hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crawl. The employee occasionally lifts or moves up to 70 lbs. The employee will not lift in excel of 50 lbs without assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and normal color vision.

Must pass drug test and background investigation
Works directly with the Maintenance Supervisor and maintenance technicians. Coordinates activities with Extrusion department managers, leads, set up personnel, manufacturing engineers, R&D and tool room personnel.
