A leading marine company in the Bremerton area is seeking a mechanical design engineer with experience in marine or US Navy systems. Proficiency with AutoCAD required. Highly desire HVAC system design experience.
Physical Requirements: Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
Education/Experience: Masters Degree +1; Bachelors Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, etc.) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the related field; OR Bachelors Degree in the Physical Sciences (i.e., Physics, Chemistry, etc.) and a minimum of 5 years experience in the application of engineering principles and discipline.
Performs complex engineering tasks in research and development engineering, design engineering, test planning support and executions. Performs complex tasks in research and development engineering, design engineering, test planning support and executions, algorithm development, mathematical analyses, and technical report development. Performs engineering tasks requiring an understanding of standard engineering theory, principles, and practices. Prepares reports, drawings, and other documents required, develops, reviews and comment on test plans and procedures, conducts analyses and recommends design changes for enhanced performance. Performs a variety of routine tasks. May direct, supervise, and train other staff on engineering standards and practices.
Skills: Ability to apply standard practices and techniques to complex situations and recognize discrepancies. Ability to interact and present technical information verbally and in writing (briefings, presentations, training, etc) to internal and external customers. Ability to use prescribed mathematical formulas and models to calculate measures for assemblies, equipment or systems. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
