Biologist II

Aerotek Scientific has a need for a Biologist II for a Biochemical Company in St. Louis, MO.

This individual will work in a gene expression group doing work with transgenic plants, mainly corn. This contract is scheduled for 6 month, but could be extended longer than that.

Major Duties Include:
- Performing basic microbiology in the lab on transgenic plants
- Running PCR and analyzing results
- Searching related databases and working with related computer
tools
- Running Northern/Southern Blots and analyzing data

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Masters degree with a focus on plant molecular biology
- Real world lab experience or experience through masters
program is a plus
- Familiarity with PCR, cloning, and Northern/Southern Blots
- Ability to search databases and perform basic computer skills
- miRNA/siRNA experience is highly desirable
- Ability to work in a team/fast paced environment
