Job Listing: Medical Coder

National Company in Melbourne is seeking a Medical Coder:

CERTIFICATION NEEDED IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR POSITION

RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, CCS-P

RESPONSIBILITITES INCLUDE

Coding and auditing: ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS

Experience in outpatient coding (e.g. Pediatrics, OBGYN, etc.)

Provide ambulatory coding to effectively collect accurate outpatient encounter data

Improve healthcare providers familiarity with coding techniques and provide timely and accurate user-friendly reports to improve management processes and procedures.

Codes using ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS.

Assist in the development of programs and plans for orienting and training medical staff in basic coding techniques.

Education:

>MUST HAVE at least one of the following Certifications to be considered
RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, CCS-P
>High school diploma
>2-3 years experience in coding ambulatory/outpatient records.
>Have worked in Government arena is a plus
>Must be able to obtain a government clearance

Required/Mandatory Skills and Certifications

Certified in either: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, CCS-P

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, surgical and medical procedures sufficient to code for optimum billing.

Knowledge of accepted medical abbreviations and their meanings and interpretation.

Knowledge in the use of specialized references such as medical nomenclatures, medical dictionaries and texts and medical journals to accurately spell out and use medical terminology.

Knowledge of basic computer functionality.
