Mechanical Engineer - Manufacturing 25% Travel Time
A manufacturer of heavy duty trucks is in need of a Mechanical Engineer to provide manufacturing support for soft line, component, and vehicle assembly and installation, with focus on engine assembly.
Job description:
Work with Design Engineering to ensure that new designs conform to established processes for each truck plant
Work with Cross-Functional teams for improved manufacturability
Through concurrent engineering, identify production-related problems ahead of production implementation into the truck plants
Assist with management of production equipment, systems design and procurement including justification, budget preparation, facilities layouts, installation, tryout and coordinating training
Follow tryout and pre-series vehicle builds and provide feedback, root cause analysis and problem-resolution support for new product launches
Provide manufacturing engineering expertise and guidance on the specification, acquisition and installation of equipment to ensure compliance with all government and safety regulations
Apply project management skills and work closely with the plants, equipment suppliers, and contractors to coordinate projects to their completion
Must be familiar with manufacturing procedures and product knowledge and able to combine them with basic Mechanical Engineering principles to optimize truck assembly processes
Experience in the heavy truck industry
25% travel time required

Required Skills
Required Skills for this Mechanical Engineer position include the following:
A minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience required
1 year Project Lead experience
Knowledge of capital planning and equipment procurement
Must have good written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in PC Microsoft software
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Catia and/or SolidWorks a plus
Education requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical or related Technical Engineering field is required
