Job Listing: Application Development Manager - 2 Positions
A leading professional services firm has two (2) 6+ month contract positions available for Application Development Managers.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Application Development Managers are primarily responsible for managing development efforts of projects within the Future State of Knowledge Initiatives in the Global Digital Channel Portfolio. The positions will require the management of detailed tasks on projects, as well as:
Maintaining customer relationships and expectations
Understanding the customer's business
Participating in full-life-cycle development using formal Application Development Methodology
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Advanced understanding of:
Application Development
Scope
Schedule and Planning
Resource Management
Guiding the development of documents to comply with the System Development Life Cycle methodologies; for example:
Project Charter
Project Management Plan
Requirements Specifications
Cost Benefit Analysis
Creating, developing and managing the project scope and schedule for simple to complex projects.
Planning and assigning resources to associated tasks and deliverables as appropriate.
Managing resources, tasks and costs based on project plan.
Consulting with internal customer management regarding the identification, specification and impact of complex system requirements and processes, and validation of business rules.
Using knowledge of data modeling to determine client area application system requirements for new or modified application programs.
PROPOSED END PRODUCT:
At this level, the successful candidates will be:
Responsible for technical analysis of the recommended solution.
Fully aware of the impact of the proposed technical solution on the environment.
Able to apply strong technical expertise and deliver high quality technical solutions
Prepared to escalate issues appropriately.

The successful candidates should have the following knowledge and skills:
Ability to manage multiple and complex projects
Strong practical knowledge of Applications and Network technologies
Ability to work in a team environment with technically skilled individuals
Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, numerical, planning and reasoning abilities

The successful candidates should have the following experience:
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in managing Application System Development in complex environments
Experience working with diverse platforms/operating system environments and knowledge of associated Integration issues
Extensive client server and web-based Application Development life-cycle experience
Demonstrated:
Experience and understanding of Integration platforms
Understanding of business processes and how technology enables those processes
Knowledge of Development and Database tools
Understanding of core business processes
Experience in some or all of the following:
IBM WebSphere Portal
IBM Lotus Notes and Domino
ASP.Net
JavaScript/VBScript
HTML/DHTML
Microsoft .NET Framework
Database Skills (Microsoft SQL Server)
Ability to identify and learn new technologies very quickly
HARD SKILLS
Superior experience and skill with:
Systems Analysis
Extensive knowledge of Application Development Life Cycle
Strong experience and skill with:
Developing functional specifications
Validating business rules with customer/business area
Creating test plans
Performing Application Design
SOFT SKILLS
Strong experience and skill with:
Written and oral communication
Being a team player
Flexibility
Sound judgment and tactfulness
