This position is under the supervision of the Command Executive Officer.
This position offers the opportunity to work at a busy organization that supports many Army missions for a population of over 8,000 soldiers and civilians covering nine states. It requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer knowledge and ability to work with diverse populations to include: co-workers of various grades, supervisors, VIP's, soldiers and senior ranking military personnel.

Major Duties
Provide technical safety advice & assistance pertaining to specialized military activities such as live/simulated combat training operations, explosive safety, combat engineer/construction operations, etc. Provide interpretation/guidance concerning application of safety regulations/policies/procedures/standards. Assess safety hazards involved in all aspects of range & explosive safety. Participate in planning conferences & in-progress reviews (IPRs) in preparation for field training exercises. Conduct risk management studies for operations/exercises. Prepare/distribute safety alerts & messages. Write/complete After Action Reports (AAR) for each exercise. Participate in AAR briefings. Support/assist accident investigations/reporting/analysis of tactical & training related injury & property damage accidents. Initiate/teach safety training. Discuss quality of safety programs & present suggestions for improvement. Investigate employee reports of unsafe or unhealthy working conditions.

General Schedule Specialized Experience: The best qualified candidates for this position must show in their resume that they meet the minimum qualifications and have training or experience in the following areas: Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of compressed gases, flammable and combustible liquids, industrial work processes, materials handling, and fire prevention. Knowledge of risk assessment, promoting safe working practices, and identifying potential hazards. Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. Work in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, fire prevention engineer, health physicist, and occupational health nurse.
The following education may be used to substitue for experience at this level:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
