Major Duties
Incumbent provides administrative support for the regional office's
payroll, finance, personnel and general administrative functions;
including auditing payrolls, assuring validity and accuracy of
payroll reimbursement claims. Keys a variety of payroll documents;
reviews and verifies printouts and takes appropriate action; reviews
work hours to ensure employees meet set tours-of-duty. Prepares
security investigation forms, including fingerprint charts, and
issues and controls identification badges. Maintains administrative
and correspondence files, employee performance files, payroll files,
and various technical manuals. Order supplies. Operates mail meter
ensuring correct postage is applied to outgoing mail. Manages
incoming and outgoing shipping and receiving. Answers the telephone
and handles both routine and technical inquiries regarding employee
benefits, leave, payroll, hours of work, as well as general Census
survey information. Assists with procurement requests. Types
administrative forms and letters.

10-Point Veteran's Preference: To receive 10-point veteran's
preference for a service-connected disability you must submit an SF-
15, "Application for 10-Point Veteran Preference," and documentary
proof from the appropriate branch of the Armed Forces or the
Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as a copy of your DD-214.
You must use the current version of the SF-15 form (revised December
2004). Previous editions are not usable.
Applicants claiming 10-point preference who do not submit the
required documentation will receive 5-point veteran's preference if
they meet the basic veteran's preference requirements and submit the
appropriate proof of military service.
5-Point Veteran's Preference: To receive 5-point veteran's
preference, you must attach a copy of your DD-214. The DD-214 must
state the Disposition of Discharge (charater of service). To receive
preference if your service began after October 15, 1976, you must
have: a Campaign Badge or Expeditionary Medal with an honorable
discharge OR served on active duty during the Gulf War from August
2, 1990 - January 2, 1992, or for more than 180 consecutive days,
other than for training, any part of which occurred during the
period beginning September 11,2001, and ending on the date
prescribed by Presidential proclamation or by law as the last day of
Operation Iraqi Freedom under the following conditions: honorable
discharge, served a minimum of 2 years on active duty, or if a
Reservist, served the full period for which called to active duty
(Reservists must include appropriate documentation).

5-point or 10-point preference must show on their application that
they have met the requirements for preference as outlined above and
must submit appropriate proof and documentation at time of
appointment.
If claiming 5 point veterans' preference, a DD-214 must be submitted
