 1 vacancy - Denver, CO The Office of Surface Mining is a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Interior with responsibility in cooperation with the states and Indian Tribes, to protect citizens and the environment during mining and reclamation, and to reclaim mines abandoned before 1977.

Introduction
This position is located in the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM), Western Region Technology Management Division, TIPS Training and Technology Transfer Branch (TTTB).  The Division is responsible for OSM's national Technology Innovation and Professional Services (TIPS) program and the Information Technology activities for the national TIPS program and the Western Region. TMD is composed of two branches:  TTTB and IT Operations (ITOB) he incumbent serves as the Administrative Support Specialist for the TTTB Branch Chief.  The incumbent is directly responsible to the Branch Chief and provides multi-functional administrative service activities within the Branch including the national TIPS training program, budget and accounting, procurement, and travel.

RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID. 

This position is being advertised concurrently with OSM-2008-0151 (MP).  ONLY ONE POSITION WILL BE FILLED AT THE, GS 09 OR GS-11 LEVEL FROM THESE VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS.



Major Duties

The incumbent serves as the Administrative Support Specialist for the TTTB Branch Chief.  The incumbent is directly responsible to the Branch Chief and provides multi-functional administrative service activities within the Branch including the national TIPS training program, budget and accounting, procurement, and travel. Incumbent performs a variety of administrative support functions and activities involving Branch and Division procurement, budget and finance, property management, travel and personnel management; TIPS national training program, accounting, budget, procurement, travel, and property; and other general administrative activities.

Candidates must meet the requirements specified in the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards.Applicants must have one year of specialized experience in or equivalent to the next lower grade, that is related to the duties described above and that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities identified below to successfully perform the work.   Time-in-grade restrictions apply.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work, such as assisting with the daily operations of an office; screening incoming calls, visitors, and correspondence; routing incoming correspondence to appropriate staff members; obtaining and assembling information; composing correspondence; carry out specific procedures and use established methods; applying practical knowledges of regulations and precedent cases; providing advise and counseling to customers regarding variety of issues; arranging, coordinating training activities; overseeing the accurate processing of correspondence and/or administrative documents ensuring conformance with grammar, format, etc; and creating and maintaining filing systems.
