QUALIFICATIONS - Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner:
a. Citizen of the United States.
b. MSN from an NLN accredited nursing program required.
c. ANA certification as a Nurse Practitioner required.
d. Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience required.
e. Clinical experience as a CRNP for at least 1 year required. (3 or more years preferred).
f. Demonstrates interpersonal skills, decision making abilities and solid clinical expertise.
g. Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work.
h. Demonstrates effective communication skills and ability to function as a team member within a multidisciplinary environment.
i. Current state license and certification.
j. ACLS Certification (preferred).
k. Authorization for prescriptive authority (preferred).
QUALIFICATIONS – Physician Assistant:
a. A bachelor’s degree from a PA training program, which is certified by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA); OR
b. Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration, which is certified by the CAHEA and a bachelor’s degree in a health care occupation or a health related science; OR
c. Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration, which is certified by the CAHEA, and a period of progressively responsible health care experience such an independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, medical technologist or medical technician. The duration of approved academic training and health care experience must total at least 5 years. In addition, Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA) is required for employment within the VA. This requirement does not apply to non-certified Physician Assistants on the VA rolls as of March 12, 1993.
d. Physical Standards – Must be physically and mentally capable of satisfactorily performing the duties of this assignment.
e. English Language Proficiency – CRNPs/PAs appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
f. Experience and/or interest in working with psychiatric patients.
g. Authorization for prescriptive authority (preferred).
