Job Description:

The Director of Medical Coding will direct the activities for the Coding personnel as well as provide assistance to other departments in the company. The Director assures that the coding function is carried out in accordance with government regulations and requirements. This role provides pro-active direction and manages the coding process for all medical billing.

Position will consult with physicians regarding accurate documentation and assist with the identification of procedures that ensure all charges are captured and entered in a timely fashion.

The Director of Medical Coding will be responsible for all administrative, operational and technical aspects of the Coding department, ensuring that coding is completed in established timeframes. This position will manage a staff of 12 coders. There are around 5,000 exams per week.

Requirements:

Five (5) years coding experience

CPC is required along with knowledge of Medicare regulations and OIG Advisory opinions.

Certification by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); in lieu of RHIT or RHIA, certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) considered

Maintenance of continuing education requirements as established by the AHIMA

Develop policies and procedures pertinent to the daily operation of the department

Knowledge of Medicare Medicaid regulations and OIG Advisory opinions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

·Bachelors Degree in a health related field
