This vacancy is being advertised under delegated examining procedures and is open to all U.S. citizens. The vacancy is being concurrently advertised under merit promotion procedures for status applicants under announcement EOIR-08-0098 MP. Status applicants are those individuals who are concurrently serving on a career or career-conditional appointment, individual who are eligible for reinstatement, or individuals who are applying under the VEOA program . This position is located in the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge (OCIJ), Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). The Attorney General of the Department of Justice (DOJ has delegated to EOIR those aspects of the authority, which involves the administration, and interpretation of the immigration laws of the United States, to include the review of immigration hearings and allegations of employment discrimination, documents fraud and employer sanctions. EOIR’s overall mission is to provide uniform interpretation and application of immigration laws, ensuring fair treatment for all parties involved. EOIR is comprised if three principal adjudicative components-the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge, the Board of Immigration Appeals , and the Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer.

Your application will be evaluated and rated under the Case Examining Procedures. Applicants meeting basic eligibility requirements will be further evaluated to determine those who are best qualified. This determination will be based on a Crediting Plan/Rating Schedule that will be used to evaluate an applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) by reviewing the candidate’s experience, education, and accomplishments against a set of predetermined job-related benchmarks.

Salary Range: 98,033.00 - 149,000.00 USD per year
The Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) is located in Falls Church, Virginia one mile west of the I-395 King Street exit, near restaurants, fitness centers, and shopping. EOIR is easily accessible via Metro Bus to and from the Pentagon. Employees are encouraged to carpool and apply for free parking. There is also a free shuttle providing transportation to and from the Pentagon City Metro stop. Employees using public transportation to commute to and from work are authorized a transit subsidy. Employees may join the Department of Justice Leave Bank Program. EOIR employees also have immediate access to a Health Unit and a Federal Credit Union.
All Federal employees are required by PL 104-134 to have federal payments made by Direct Deposit.
This is a career/career-conditional appointment. Upon completing any required probationary period, the position will be permanent.
