Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer:

Designs plastic, die casts, carbon composites, and machined parts and products.
Provides Engineering support to Manufacturing.
Designs fixtures and tools to build and test products.
Develops and implements testing procedures.
Evaluates and documents test results.
Provides input to departmental and company procedures, to correct problems or deficiencies, recommending and implementing changes where indicated and approved.
Serves as a member of a material review in support of production.
Receives requests from Management to prepare design of products or fixtures.
Assesses the project and clarifies specifications as necessary to complete designs.
Prepares CAD drawings and models of designated products or fixtures.
Calculates and lays out:

Dimensions
Angles
Curvature of parts
Materials to be used
Relationship of various parts to entire structure

Creates models for documentation of designs for use in production processes for new or existing products.
Modifies drawings and models to cure problems in operation or production.
Assigns design tasks to Mechanical Drafters when indicated.
Oversees work by Drafters and ensures that integrity of design is retained.
Coordinates machining processes; determines needs of machine shop to fulfill the production requirement, and is available to clarify design instructions.
Conducts Mechanical Engineering analysis with finite element models, including structural and thermal analyses of systems and components.
Evaluates and documents the results of the analyses.
