VETERANS PREFERENCE

INTERAGENCY CAREER TRANSITION ASSISTANCE PLAN (ICTAP)
If you are an eligible Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) applicant, you may apply for special selection over other candidates for this position. To be well-qualified and exercise selection priority for this vacancy, you must meet or exceed the fully successful level for the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. You will be considered well-qualified if your score is 85 or above prior to the addition of veteran preference points. Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level related to performing such duties as: providing information, advice, or instructions about benefits; explaining claims related rules, regulations, policies or procedures pertaining to claims; providing assistance in preparation of claims related report forms, claims, etc; and reviewing claims packages for discrepancies and resolving problems, OR experience in conducting personal and telephone contacts with a wide range of individuals or a combination of both types of experience. NOTE: part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12 month period, you will be credited with 6 months of experience).
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Four years of education above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Experience and education can be combined to meet the minimum qualification requirements for this position. The experience and education you have should be computed as percentages of the overall requirements and must equal at least 100 percent when combined. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Example: An applicant has 8 months of qualifying experience and 20 semester hours of college. The applicant meets 67 percent of the required experience and 33 percent of the required education. The applicant meets 100 percent of the total requirements and is qualified for the position.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT:
Meet and Deal Panel Interview: Applicants will be required to participate in a panel interview (after basic eligibility determination) to demonstrate an aptitude for meeting and dealing with the public. Applicants must pass this interview process in order to be found fully qualified for this position and receive further consideration for selection. This interview will cover typical situations, which might be encountered on the job, in person or over the telephone.
