This is an Air Reserve Technician position. Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits afforded to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, Air Reserve Technicians are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions. As members of reserve units, Air Reserve Technicians receive on the average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members thereof are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

ATAFR-202, Employee Availability Statement- This form is mandatory.
SF-15, Claim for 10-Point Veterans Preference- This form is mandatory for all claims based on service-connected disability, widow, mother, spouse, or purple heart. Required documentary proof (a letter form the Veteran's Administration dated 1991 or later providing percentage of disability) must be submitted with form.
DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty--A Memeber-4 copy of this document is requested, but not mandatory, unless claiming 10-point Veterans Preference.
Identification of 5-point Veterans Preference Eligibility-- this form is requested for claims for 5-point Veterans Preference unless documentation is provided.

The cut-off date for these positions is 14-May 2008. Therefore, if we receive your application afer the 14 May 2008 cut off you are not eligible.
