The Department of Energy, Office of the General Counsel, is seeking
a motivated and highly qualified individual to serve as
Environmental Protection Specialist in the Office of National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Policy and Compliance. The
selectee will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist with
responsibility for providing assistance, guidance, and training on
NEPA and related environmental matters.
Major Duties
The incumbent of this position will serve as an Environmental
Protection Specialist for a defined set of projects and is
responsible for providing assistance, guidance and training on
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related environmental
matters; the analysis and definition of program and project
NEPA/environmental review requirements; the timely quality control
of environmental impact statements (EISs) and other environmental
documentation that supports the NEPA review. Responsible for
providing broadly diversified analytical support through the use of
knowledge of NEPA and related environmental and technical
requirements. Assists in the development of the Department's NEPA
compliance polices, training and guidance. Coordinates NEPA
compliance efforts with other environmental review requirements in
accordance with the Council on Environmental Quality's NEPA
regulations.

Specialized Experience:

The successful candidate will possess the following knowledge,

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THIS VACANCY: A Preliminary background
check must be completed before a new employee can begin work with
the U.S. Department of Energy. The preliminary background check
consists of a search of Office of Personnel Management and
Department of Defense background investigation files and an
FBI National Criminal History Fingerprint Check; it may take up to
three weeks to complete. If selected for this position, you will be

Salary Range: 69,764.00 - 127,442.00 USD per year
