Job Listing: Assistant Controller

An aerospace and defense company in Huntsville has an immediate need for an Assistant Controller. This is a permanent, long-term position.

Assistant Controller: Reporting to the Controller, responsible for overseeing the Accounts Receivable, Government Regulations and Payroll Departments of the Company and is in charge of the Controller's Office in the absence of the Controller.

Job Duties:
- Supervises staff to ensure efficient processing of information consistent with proper internal controls.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Regulatory Compliance, Self-Governance and Payroll for the Company.
- Incurred Cost Submissions
- Develops strategic directions for the functional areas reporting to the position.
- Assists the Controller in development and implementation of Company-wide policies and procedures.
- Acts as the primary interface with the MIS Manager on systems issues relating to the functional areas reporting to the position in order to take full advantage of advances in technology.
- Benchmarks functional performance and develops a methodology for ensuring adoption of "Best Practices".
- Interfaces with independent auditors, government auditors and senior Company management.
- Performs such other duties as the Controller may deem necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Minimum of five years solid, multi-faceted accounting experience with a demonstrated familiarity with the practices/principles of Department of Defense contractor accounting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of broad-based financial functions in addition to financial accounting standards.
- Proficient user of Deltek preferred.
- Good organizational, communications, interpersonal and supervisory skills are essential.

The pay scale for this position is dependant upon years of experience.
