Our client a global pharmacy benefit management corporation is looking for quality pharmacy technicians who have a minimum of six months experience in a retail or mail order environment. A great benefits package is included.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for preparing prescriptions according to label provided, while verifying NDC code and drug name on dispensing bottle. Responsibilities also include retrieving medications from stock, counts, and packages for review by pharmacist, and filling automated locations using proper procedures. This role is also responsible for checking quantity of unit dose products, and adding snap caps if requested. Assist the Pharmacist in filling/dispensing of prescription medication by preparing prescription drug orders according to information provided while verifying patient, medication information, and labeling for final check and making doctor phone calls when required. Sets up, adjusts and operates filling equipment and instruments.
POSITION DUTIES:
This position is responsible for selecting, packaging, and labeling medications per the prescription under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and as permitted under applicable pharmacy rules and regulations. Responsible for selecting, packaging, and labeling medical supplies and equipment. Must possess attention to detail. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret prescriptions. Good verbal and written communication skills along with organizational skills. Maintains a focus on work to meet production requirements without compromising quality -- ensures accurate filling of prescription orders. Must be able to read and interpret documents and instructions, write routine correspondence, and communicate effectively by telephone. Some positions require Pharmacy Technician Certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of six months of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail, hospital or PBM setting preferred.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. National Pharmacy Technician Certification also required.
