Provides chair-side assistance to dentist in restorative, prosthetic and surgical procedures. Independently operates dental radiographic equipment to include exposing film, processing and mounting completed radiographs. Cleans and sterilizes materials, instruments and equipment. Prepares sterile trays for a wide variety of surgical and dental procedures. Relays to patient instructions from dentist for all types of post treatment care including specialized instructions for post-surgery patients. Provides oral hygiene instructions. Records treatment and examination information on patient’s records. Assists with greeting and scheduling of patients and answering of phones as needed.

a. Citizen of the United States
b. Experience and Education
(1) Experience – Six months experience that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to perform the work, or provides familiarity with the work.
or
(2) Education – Successful completion of a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Accreditation.
or
(3) Experience/Education Combination – Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying.
c. Certification: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75.
Applicants must meet the basic qualifications requirements stated in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G36.
To qualify based on education, submit copy of transcript or list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Application materials will not be returned. You can receive credit for education received outside the United States if you provide evidence that it is comparable to an accredited educational institution in the United States when you apply.
You must submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test before you can be appointed into this position.
You must have a certification, licensure, or registration credentials in to administer radiologic procedures for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.

Salary Range: 28,759.00 - 41,824.00 USD per year
