DUTIES: This position is located in the Biloxi, MS Transitional Recovery Office (TRO) in Mississippi.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will serve as a key Hazard Mitigation/Mapping Specialist for the TRO. The incumbent will also serve as a technical authority for making map determinations that affect eligibility issues for the Disaster Housing and Individual and Family Grant Program, Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs, and other FEMA programs involving floodplain issues.

The incumbent will assist in producing more accurate and accessible flood maps by using advanced technology to enter the most accurate data available into an Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) ARC INFO® Geographic Information System (GIS). The generated flood maps and digital information will be made available on the Internet. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for managing the Flood Insurance Studies for the TRO.

The incumbent will analyze technical work performed by private engineering consultants and other Federal agencies conducting flood hazard studies under contract to FEMA. The incumbent will conduct coordination meetings to resolve differences in study findings from adjacent areas.

The incumbent performs all other Duties and Assignments as required.
