A trusted Water Resource company, dedicated to delivering innovative solutions, is hiring an Enterprise Architect. This is a phenomenal opportunity to be part of a newly initiated Architecture team in a growing utility organization, tasked with the development of future systems architecture for the corporation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

May require the jobholder to occasionally provide "on-call" after-hours (evenings, nights, and or weekends) support. Occasional travel to Voorhees, NJ office.

Primary Role:
The Enterprise Architect:

Architects, designs and engineers IT systems Infrastructure with a special focus on the midrange compute and storage platform, its integration with line of business applications, and the overall systems and software architecture.
Develops Engineering standards and lifecycle roadmaps of midrange compute and storage technology solutions.
Creates Engineering plans, designs and provisioning elements to support the midrange platform.
Researches, plans and designs timely, cost-effective modernization projects for enterprise solutions, including the midrange platform, to support business objectives and meet the IT standards.
Understands and applies new technological systems and vendor products and roadmaps to develop innovative system solutions that match business requirements.
Assists in providing third-level support for escalated platform issues.
Completes and thoroughly understands Information Technology infrastructure with specific focus on mid-range systems architecture and landscape.
Drives the creation of a midrange disaster/recovery plan and participates in the creation of an overall data center strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Enterprise Architect:

Designs processes and solutions for monitoring midrange systems performance and performs capacity planning and transaction analysis to maintain quality of service.
Makes recommendations and prepares reports regarding midrange systems performance, capacity, and system growth.
Conducts periodic midrange system audits.
Maximizes the effectiveness and usability of the midrange platform.
Interacts with vendors to maintain existing services, enhance and implement new capabilities.

Project: Provide senior expert-level technology support for project assessment technology design, implementation and documentation.

Solutions Development: Drive strategy, standards and implementation of technology solutions that enable the business to accomplish exceptional customer service, operational and financial goals.

IT Architecture: Develop, manage and support IT processes and procedures to ensure the continued evolution of IT Standards, IT Roadmaps, and the IT Architecture models.

(10%)

System Optimization: Proactively plan for availability, capacity, cost, functionality, performance, and process optimization of systems and solutions.

(10%)

Vendor Relationships: Maintain constructive, proactive and ongoing relationship with key hardware, software, and services vendors.

(5%)

Change Management: Support the Change Management process and control.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science required, or a combination of relevant education and experience negotiable

Skills:

Complete and thorough understanding of Information Technology infrastructure with specific focus on mid-range systems architecture and landscape
Advanced technical knowledge and understanding of RISC-based systems architecture such as:

POWER Architecture
PA-RISC
MIPS
Midrange Operating Systems, such as:

OS/400
AIX
HP-UX
Linux

Experience with the creation of a data center strategy as well as a DR strategy
Design experience with systems landscape
Knowledge and experience in Call Center technologies
Skill and experience with the following:

Protocols: TCP/IP, Fiber Channel
Communication Models (OSI, X500)
Architecture and Design of storage networks and device concepts in particular IBM storage solutions
Project Management and development methodologies and tools
Architectural components to ensure adherence to software standards and models
Midrange architectures in an enterprise environment with experience in virtualization

Experience mapping business requirements to technology capabilities, identifying gaps and omissions, and designing end-to-end solutions
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of analog and digital transmission concepts
Excellent leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational, communication, and problem resolution skills
Personal computing experience, including Microsoft Office applications
Ability to present information and/or respond to inquiries from groups of managers, associates, and customers
Excellent leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills
10+ years prior work experience in Information Technology/Engineering with an emphasis on support of midrange systems and related technologies

Knowledge:
Understanding of:

Architectural components to ensure adherence to software standards and models
Midrange architectures in an enterprise environment
Data Center planning across multiple locations
Other infrastructure disciplines such as:

WinTel
Citrix
Data Networking

Experience (Demonstrated):

Minimum of five (5) years of design, engineering and architecture experience at the enterprise level, specifically with the analysis/discovery, design, implementation, documentation, delivery/transition/support of midrange solutions
Experience in designing complex, yet standardized and well-designed systems landscapes
Ability to work independently and make timely decisions
Experience diagnosing complex hardware, software and system support events
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, including use of the telephone and e-mail
Experience with hardware interfaces and user configurable hardware components
Experience with midrange processor architectures and technology concepts, such as:

PA-RISC
Power5
Power 6
SMP
SANs

Experience with IBM’s pSeries and iSeries family of products
