An organization that provides original and timely health information on the Internet is looking to hire a Database Architect. This position is open due to significant expansion in the organization.
Position Description:
Our Client is seeking a hands-on architect with good communication skills to work independently:

50% of the time with Oracle
The other 50% of the time with SQL server

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Database Architect:

Interfaces with executive-level internal clients.
Provides logical and physical database designs for new applications, and assumes an active role in refactoring existing applications and systems.
Designs, architects and documents a variety of mission-critical OLTP and DSS systems.
Collaborates with Application Architects, Product Managers, Business Analysts and the Technical Management Team to design, develop and document the following:

Databases
Schemas
Tables
Functions
Triggers
Procedures
Relationships
Other necessary aspects of the database

Designs and develops complex data models from high-level business requirements.

Must be able to provide design options, alternatives and recommendations based on experience and best practices for database design.

Develops high-performing PL/SQL and T-SQL procedures to streamline both OLTP and batch operations.

Must exhibit deep understanding and experience in database and PL/SQL (T-SQL) tuning at both logical and system levels.

Designs and implements logical database architecture.

Must exhibit experience designing redundant and fault-tolerant architectures for high volume OLTP and DSS systems.

Designs and develops locking strategies for critical transactions to ensure data integrity.

Experience implementing data replication and locking strategies across parallel database infrastructures is desired.

Establishes standards for documentation and ensure that all designs are documented.
Must be able to work under very strict timelines to deliver optimal enterprise caliber database designs.
