JOB TITLE: Accountant
STATUS: Full Time, Immediate Placement
SCHEDULE: Standard: 8 am – 5 pm, 1 hour lunch – overtime as needed (shift may be negotiated)

Summary
As an Accountant at our Corporation, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the accurate recordkeeping, reporting and sound financial management of the company. Primarily this position will be a range of full service accounting: from data entry to A/R, A/P, Payroll, Taxes and General Ledger responsibilities. Other job functions will be general bookkeeping and record keeping tasks, report preparation which shall include but not be limited to financial statement preparation and analysis. The person in this position shall overview the work of the A/P clerk and be able to total, balance, and reconcile billing vouchers; ensure the completeness and accuracy of data on accounts; and code documents according to company procedures.
It will require meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to use checklists to perform a consistent, reliable financial record. As an Accountant you will perform a variety of tasks typical in a small business office and be willing “to do what it takes” to get the job done. You should be self-directed, tidy, organized, multi-functional and enjoy a diverse and fast-paced work environment. Ideally, you will have the experience of implementing or converting enterprise software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes. Code documents according to company procedures.
Prepare reports in the preparation and analysis of financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.
Must have a clear understanding of the debit and credit accounting principles.
Perform computerized accounting procedures. Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts. Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information. Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
Must prepare payroll, payroll taxes, W-2’s and other payroll related functions.
Preferably, have experience in preparation of multiple state sales tax returns.
Assist in general bookkeeping tasks as needed such as the entry of shipping and receiving paperwork, or other recordkeeping tasks in other departments, when needed.
Perform financial calculations such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal.
Perform or overview the performance of general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence as needed.
Job Requirements
Knowledge:
Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic
English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Accounting - Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Education:
High School Diploma: business preparation and accounting classes helpful
College Education: 4 year accounting degree and/or
Training: accounting, computer, office training and/or
Experience: in accounting, basic computer, computerized accounting, and/or small business office experience
Experience:
Bookkeeping/accounting experience: 5-10 years (computerized accounting required)
Computer Experience: 3 - 5 years
Desirable: Small business office experience
Skills:
Must deal/work well with others.
Must present a positive image (one that is consistent with the business motto of “You’ll like working with us!”). Should have an up-beat phone voice, deal with customers positively, be appropriately attired and practice good hygiene
Must be self-initiating, independent and able to organize time and diverse responsibilities. Should be challenged by variety in work environment.
Should be comfortable with not having a lot of interaction with the public.
Must be thorough, accurate, organized, able to create, maintain and follow checklists and/or accounting protocols.
