Job Listing: Manager of Network Planning - Telecommunications
A leading voice and data service provider in the Southeastern United States is looking to hire a Manager of Network Planning. This is a growing company in enormous growth mode, with an urgent need. The Company recently acquired a competitor and is seeking further acquisitions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Network Planning Manager:
Develops Collocation hubbing arrangements.
Manages backhaul/transport providers and contracts.
Maintains master schedule of CO build-outs.
Completes ongoing traffic studies and grooms network as necessary.
Develops and maintains traffic measurements and ordering thresholds.
Maintains equipment records for all central office locations and network elements.
Orders all transport circuits (i.e. T-1s, T-3s, IP VPNs).
Develop ISRs and MOPs.
Develops network maps.
Develops Spare and Exchange programs.
Implements RMA and Maintenance Tracing.
Negotiates Least Cost Routing.
Works with Revenue Assurance.
Reviews billing of transport circuits.
Develops metrics and reporting.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Manager of Network Planning:
Manages the Network Planners.
May be assigned supervisory responsibilities over other positions as the Network grows.

Required Skills
Required Skills for this Manager of Network Planning position include the following:
4-6 years of experience in a facilities-based Telecommunications industry with similar responsibilities
Bachelors Degree preferred
Working knowledge of the following:
Electronics
Grounding Practices
ATM
DSL
Frame Relay
HDSL2/HDSL4
T1/T3 PBX Systems
Inside/Outside Plant
VoATM/VoFR/VoIP
TDM
TCP/IP
UDP
DHCP
NAT
Routing, Bridging and Switching
Familiarity with the following:
ANSI T1.403, ANSI T1.417, and TR-73600 standards
G.711, G.729, G.723, and H.323 Compression Codecs
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (preferred but not required):
Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, etc.)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CSSP)
Professional Training/Certifications on Layer 2 Switching and Layer 3 Routing
MS-SQL Server 7.0/2000
MS-Exchange 2000
CompTIA certification:
A+
Network+
I-NET+
Server+
Linux+
Linux Professional Institute Certification
HIPAA Security
